Moving Supplies You Need
Whether you are moving across the country or two blocks away, you will need to gather the necessary moving supplies to get from Point A to Point B. The basic items you must add to your moving checklist should come as no surprise:

What sizes are ideal? Choose a variety. Smaller boxes are suitable for heavy items such as books or tools. Save larger boxes for lighter items—such as bedding, pillows, small toiletries, and accessories. If you want to take your organization to the next level, consider expanding your lineup beyond standard small, medium, large, and extra-large options to also include picture boxes and wardrobe boxes.
Packing Tape
Purchase high-quality packing tape to seal your belongings securely. Remember, the seams of these boxes need to hold up while waiting, in transit, and when stacked. Want to speed things up? A tape gun is your best new friend.
Permanent Markers
If you can find them, grab the big, fat industrial varieties. Your markers need to go a long way toward clearly labeling all your boxes. Pro tip: Write the destination room—kitchen, bedroom, and so on—on each box to make the movers’ lives easier and avoid guesswork later when organizing a large number of boxes.
If you want to reuse your cardboard collection during a future move or pass your supplies on to a friend, consider purchasing adhesive labels. (You can also write keywords on tape.)
Trash Bags

Packing Paper
Cushioning is crucial for preventing breakage during a move. Carefully wrap delicate dishes, glassware, electronics, and other fragile items with bubble wrap and packing paper. Paper, in particular, can help prevent scratches where glass pieces come into contact with one another and on the glass.
Box Dividers
Box dividers may not be 100% necessary. But you will certainly appreciate the peace of mind they provide when protecting items such as glassware. Most hardware stores sell kits for various types of dishes. Consider getting one of each so that every section of the tableware can be covered.
